A Short Walk along the Lake
We did a short walk along the lake. It was not crowded as it was Christmas. There was no boat so we just enjoyed the view.
Nice promenade around the lake, free parking, sandy beaches, lots of watersport activities, beautiful nature. Really nice place!
Gives the town a bit of character
Nice (relatively small) lake which give the town a bit of a seaside feel. Good paths around for cycling and running.
We are spending g a few days her at the sea side just to relax. You can have a boat trip to see everything from the water side, but also lots of walks at the water itself or just relax at the beach ????
Relaxing Spa town just outside Bremen, Oldenburg offers quiet peace.
This is ideal for Seniors and is in fact the choice Spa location for Seniors and people recovering from Surgery/Medical treatment sponsored by German Govt and Business Plans. It is also a rare discovery for Tourists who want to venture off the beaten track. Well connected by Rail and Road to nearby cities of Bremen & Oldenburg. The Boutiques in town and the Spas by the Lake are upscale and genteel with a clientelle whose average age is around 70 and more Motorized Walkers than cars!
Good for walks or bike riding
The lake and surrounding area has numerous walking and bicycle paths. Since this is a protected area, building of private vacation houses has been limited. There is a path which goes around the entire lake of about 12 kilometers. It is best to bike it. There are good lake views, but there are private areas where the lake is not accessible. There are many cafes in the town, but if you are walking or biking around the lake, stop in Dreibergen (1/2 way around the lake) at Mahlmann’s for good cake and coffee. If you are taking the boatride, get off there and also briefly visit the 3 neolithic mounds.
