One of the best

I’ve been twice to Schiffers and both times it has been a wonderful experience. The food is great and well put together. I personally prefer a menu with 3-5 options for starters, main and dessert (each). I’m a vegetarian and have found something delicious on the menu. My mother chose a meat dish and she thoroughly enjoyed her dinner. The staff is friendly and made us feel very welcome. Having observed other guest, it seems as they were returning customers. The venue feels cosy, is clean and upmarket. They have a great range of wines, gins and other spirit. I enjoyed the Schiffers Brause, which seems to be a signature drink. The prices are fair. The location near the Baldeney See is great for a little walk before dinner. All over, Schiffers is one of the best in this part of the world and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Great restaurant!

Disclaimer : • while it’s delicious, it is expensive (around 80€ for two people) so it might fit an important, fancy date more than a casual hangout with friends • don’t forget that you also have to pay for the water (like 5€ the bottle) like most restaurants in Germany • I think the menu changes very often (every week or so) therefore I doubt the dishes I talk about will be available when you go It’s a fantastic restaurant for a romantic night (not so much for families I think) they have an outdoor terrasse or a very cozy inside area! The staff is beyond friendly and speak very good English! (I made a mistake in my order and was able to change it without trouble) I had a free alcohol cocktail (pics) that was DELICIOUS while my fiancé got a beer. After ordering and while waiting for our food to get there the waitress offered us a free spread with white bread (pics), really started out great! We were then served our first courses and the chèvre and fig salad I got was worth the wait! (pics) My fiancé opted for asparagus , salmon and truffles noodles (pics) that were really out of this world! We then got to our main course : an Irish whiskey steak with potatoes and a great sauce (pics) and while I’m not a big fan of red meat that was GRAND! We were to full (and broke) for desert but it looked like there were great ones too!

We arrived at 21:00, and were served with a smile. The staff seems dedicated and passionate, and the setting is good. The dishes we ordered looked good and tasted even better.

Dinner in a private circle

The group size was about 50 people and we all had space in this friendly and nicely ambiented restaurant. The menu was set, but we could choose between two different starters and main dishes. My starter was a mix of fried green and white asparagus in tempura, dished with a salat and strawberry ketchup. Indeed a good light start with the tasty mild asparagus. It then took a little while until we got the main dish and it got warmer with that many people in the restaurant, but you could go to the exterior area, have a look into the kitchen and get some fresh air outside. The main dish was a veal roast with fresh spring vegetables and parsley potatoes. The meat was very soft, the vegetables tasted fresh and the potatoes were soft but not chunky. This all together with I believe a Béchamelsauce. In overal a good main dish, but not outstanding. The desserts that I took were strawberry tiramisu and a rhubarb panna cotta. Both not too sweet and not too much. The rhubarb had the right acidity to the panna cotta sweetness. A pleasent evening, accompanied with white wine. I saidly haven’t tried their homebeer, so I have to come back another time. Enjoy!

We Really enjoyed our meal here .. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and decor was upmarket and The food was excellent. It was possibly a little more costly than we wanted to spend on a meal but I think the price was probably fair considering the quality of the food and the ambiance.

Werden needed a place like Schiffers!!

We went there for a family event and we couldn t have found a more suitable, friendly place, relaxed with honest and excellent food served by very friendly, personal and attentive service. Every dish was served "à point". My Schnitzel would win every "Schnitzel-Test" and all the other meals looked so delicious that we need to come back soon to get more of this super tasty food. I especially like the styling of this small, casual chic and cosy restaurant which hits the taste of time. The hosts were absolutely professional and very friendly with attention to detail. As Aperitiv we had a wonderful drink called "Schiffer s Brause", that contained Prosecco with Lime and another ingredient, lovely decorated with some Rosemary. Werden, this little market town and part of Essen with it s "Fachwerk" traditional houses does already have some very good restaurants, mainly Italian. It definitely need a new restaurant like "Schiffer s" with very authentic, superb German cuisine. For a warm Summer evening there is space in the backyard for "al fresco dining" outside. Highly recommended!
