Le Gastromme, Vielsalm

It was cold and wet outside but still a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere under the tent and heaters on the Gastromme terrace. The food was delicious and plentiful - we had the trout with Ardennes sauce and salmon with leeks. The kids enjoyed their food as well (croquettes and chicken nuggets). Starters were also very nice (smoked salmon and mushroom soup). There was even a surprise piece of birthday cake with a candle at the end. Many thanks to the host and hostess for making it a special day - we look forward to coming back next time we are in the Ardennes.

I can really recommend this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food quality is on a high level. And all this for moderate prices. A direct hit!!!

We came here upon TripAdvisor recommendation, and even though it took as a while in the car, we definitely did not regret our visit! The location of Le Gastromme is supreme--lovely village, green landscape all over,friendly goats in the back yard, lots of plants and flowers, beautiful stone building with a wonderful garden and yard that’s so tastefully decorated, down to the last detail. A true gemstone of coziness and hospitality! Even though we had not reserved beforehand, we were able to sit outside. We were all impressed by the kindness and hospitality of the gentleman who served us. He was such a great host! Not to mention the food- so delicious! There is no great number of options on the menu, but that is actually a good thing, because it gives simplicity in choosing what you eat, and also each and every dish we tried, was Incredible! Homey well-prepared dishes that excited all of our senses, and also so generous portions! Not to mention the excellent Covid-19 preparation and hygiene measures at the restaurant. Honestly I haven’t yet seen such inspecable application of regulations. We couldn’t be happier with our choice ro come to Le Gastromme, and will definitely come back if we are again in Stavelot. 100% recommend!!! :) :) :)

A great find that I would thoroughly recommend. The place is not big so I would recommend booking. We called in off chance and managed to fit in. The host and chef were very welcoming and very patient with our limited Language skills. The menu is traditional with some very tasty options. Of note for any vegetarians is there is always a tasty option. Everything was freshly made and home cooked. Price wise for the quality, atmosphere and service this restaurant is very very good. Just note the sat nav was slightly off but you will see there sign from the main road.

What a place! The unique location, decor in the restaurant in and out side gives retro feel , the service is amazing gives the feeling you are the only one in the restaurant, and the food... What will I say, easily one of the best restaurant I ate in, I had the forrel dish, wow, I will come back here every time I’m around this area for this dish, chef Catheine, u have such an amazing talent. Don’t miss this place, its worth the drive and the time. Great for romantic evening as a couple, or hang out with friends, or just dinner with the family.

The service here was amazing, these people are so kind and lovely it made the experience just worth every moment and every penny. The food was prepared on the spot, and we had some really mouth watering beef and a local beer that really blew us away. The back garden where we ate was so charming. And we were pretty lucky getting the evening mostly to ourselves, making it quite romantic. Love the pet goats in the back as well. I have nothing negative to say whatsoever. Make sure to try the chocolate cake.

I don’t think you’ll find a better place for a cosy dinner in the region of Vielsalm. Very welcoming and friendly service, you immediately feel relaxed in this little but great restaurant in Ennal, close to Vielsalm. I recommand the filet pur of the local Ennal farmers, it’s simply excellent. But also the other dishes were all top. The red house wine is an original choice and goes great with the meat.

Finding a restaurant off season in Vielsalm is quite a challenge, but wow, what a great find is la cabanon! As it was Sinterklaas we were lucky to have a Private dining experience. The food was absolutely great, home made, pure and locally sourced which is nicely explained. The ladies running the business know what they are doing and really treated us wonderfully. Also it is a great value for what you get! Just make sure to bring cash with you! Ladies, thanks again and we will be there again!!!
