Booking necessary for a Lunchtime treat

Excellent menu du jour @ €16.50. with 3 choices for the entree, plat and dessert. Good quality food and wines in a nice ambience. Will definitely return soon with other friends. Only negative Waitresses, apparently from a local culinary school, should be a little better presented

Our favorite restaurant for the last 10 years

For us the best french restaurant we know and which we use to visit twice per year for special romantic or family occasions. Traditional french kitchen, totally homemade with fresh food, romantic setting and friendly staff (the owners themselves, wife and husband, are taking care of the customers). The choice of menus is being changed for every season and brings new tasty discoveries each time. Highly recommendable !

Fine dining at its best.

We never tire of this restaurant. Imaginative dishes, fresh produce and prepared by a chef with a true love of food. We would award them 10 out of 10 for presentation, quality and service. Higher than average price for this area of France but well worth it for that special occasion. Reservations absolutely necessary as they have limited tables. We enjoy it so much we book for my birthday each year and have bought gift vouchers for our friends.

Best supper in my life

We chose this restaurant because of reviews in Tripadvisor and were right. We loved everything about this restaurant starting with unintrusive but very helpful and caring waiter, very well-thought interior where you feel at ease but at the same time special, and ending with amazing food. We both chose menu decouverte and enjoyed every dish in it. Every plate is so special, the aroma simply knock you out. I am very picky, in other circumstances I would never try to eat the neck or kidneys of the veal, but there... I ate them with great pleasure. Could not believe myself. All dishes in the menu are well orchestrated and served with different wine to go with. You don’t have to bother about wine to choose. It was not the cheapest supper in my life, but every cent was worth it. We will surely return for another special occasion.

Fantastis! Varius times - never disappointed!

I love this restaurant! I went there varius times (once or twice a year) and every time I love it. It is cosy and the service is very nice, quite "home style", so don’t expect "service etoilee" but they are always smiling and very attentive. The decoration is modern, not fashion / disseny but quite "class" as they say in French, pictures in their website: http://www.lavieilleporte.fr/ The food is delicious, their foie gras home foie is fantastic and their meat and fish wow very very tasty! It is French cuisine, so it also means they use "cream" quite often. The decoration of the plates is very funny, specially the desserts (look at the picture I uploaded of "the mousse chocolate mouse" ;o) or the tartare! If you order cheese, it is the "chef" who will explain you and serve, very kind from him! So, if you are looking for a nice restaurant (not very snob) where you can eat very well, enjoy a nice evening and dont pay too much, dont doubt more, this is your place.
