Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy baked slices - YUM. Best restaurant in Germany so far
Best restaurant after 5 days in Germany. Delicious pork shoulder & shank, great service, nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

My place to be for authentic food, beer and service
As a German from Hannover let me Tell you: 1st Star for authentic handcrafted food. 2nd star for more that fair prices. 3rd star for the smart service, always caring for new beer. Hint: some rough jokes are part of the local serving style to encourage you to enjoy food and drinks ;) 4th star for the beer diversity (Keller beer would be my recommendation for starters. try one Rauch beer before ordering more, might not be everybodies favorite). 5th Star because that place is always crowded and it’s usual to be seatet at the same table with locals or tourists in this cosy tavern. You get in touch easily. @the team from Kachelofen: keep up your excellent work!

Touristic food with WOW factor
Our 13 persons group went there as other places were too full. Somehow we managed one table for all of us. The waiters were super friendly. I must say, food portions were huge for us. Everyone in our group struggled to finish own portions. Tasty food and good beer. Nice place to seat. Highly recommend to try out the dish with pork knuckle with sauerkraut.

Excellent food
Its a very popular restaurant right in the middle of Bamberg. The service was great and the food was even better. I had the pork belly with pan fried potatoes and it was delicious. My boyfriend had Schäufele ( pork shoulder) and it was really good. Highly recommend!

Best tradditional place!
Very special "Wirtshaus" in the heart of Bamberg. For local people as well as for tourists. With delicious Frankonian food, good beer and authentic service. Perfect location for food and "Bamberg feeling".

Friendly cosy and yum good
Good value for money but real German food ! Real experience. The sausage and potato platter, the potato soup, the pork, sauerkraut and dumplings - it’s all yum!!! They will alter menus if required too. Outdoor and indoor seating- very friendly staff and a good variety of drinks available. Very cosy- shared tables often happen. Meeting new people all the time.

Fantastic and Great Value
Tried to book over the phone for two. Cant do it as they sit people on common tables and despite my misgivings what a great way to meet people. This is a small restaurant with an intimate atmosphere but absolutely inviting warm and friendly. The service was very good and the waitress was perfect for English speaking people. The food, well the pictures don’t do it justice, was hearty and extremely good. It’s cash only here, nearly had to wash the dishes but scraped up enough cash to pay for the meal. Don’t miss this for a great feed and excellent value.
