Delicious

Much-favoured restaurant, but not easy to get a table here. We were lucky enough to manage that and we were really not dissapointed. It was wort that money, although I expected higher prices. Portions also all right, staff nice and quite good language skilled. Maybe try to book a table more in advance, but definitely try it.

Great food!

The place is not really easy to find and opens only after 3pm on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday and fridays! We got lucky because our group of 4 went early in the morning for biking and hiking around the Mondsee lake. We were told to come exactly at 3 pm since the rest of the time they were fully booked! I was the first one to arrive before 2 pm and a couple was already sitting on one of the outdoor tables ( under the trees but outdoor umbrellas provide plenty of shade) we ordered the roasted pork with horse radish and thinly sliced radishes and sliced pickles. We also ordered buttered home made bread. Chopped chives sprinkled over the buttered bread. We drank Hollunder soda. The combination was just so great. All for e$50. For those interested, best to call ahead. 06232/38 41. They have indoor seating as well for rainy days I guess! Well worth a visit if you are in the area!

Easy and nice

Just trie the "Most mit Hollunder" and enjoy the "Jausenplatte" to be happy es a child again :-) A place to chill and relax on Austrian-Way

My Favorite In Salzburger Land!

After getting a psssst recomnendation by a neighbor here years ago...my family decided to give it a shot. Amazing...truly amazing! Look, theres only like 8 things on the menu, but theyre all from farm to table...literally! The place is always PACKED, but thats only adds to the ambiance. Its a converted farmhouse, where local farmers, fishers and bankers alike sit around drinking cider and savoring the incredible jausen. For those unfamiliar with the term, jausen is an Austrian specialized plate of assorted salads/spreads, meats and cheeses:of which these guys have the best by far. Word of warning, no entry without reservation, but one is easily obtained by calling just an hour in advance. True to the Austrian charm...they’ll find a way to fit you in and serve you right.

Perfect.

Enjoyed this experience so much. Just like others have posted, it is totally off the beaten track. Everything home grown. And you can tell! Delicious Austrian "jause" as they say! Would definitely go back !

A great alternative to the normal restaurant experience.

A little bit off the beaten track outside Mondsee, but definitely worth seeking out. If you want some traditional Austrian food, with a great local ambience you won’t go wrong here. Good value for money, a warm welcome, and if your german isn’t up to scratch, their english is good enough to get the point.

The "Most" .

A hot summer’s evening sitting under the apple trees listening to live Austrian folk music and enjoying a Farmer’s high "Jausern" washed down with home made cider (most) A wonderful bucolic and unforgettable addition to any holiday spent by the Mondsee or Wolfgangsee. Need to book in season.

Best Jause you can get

Holzingerbauer is a restaurant that only serves jause but it is absolutely fantastic. Everything is fresh and homemade, including the bread. By nice weather the garden is a great place to sit but inside is also very comfortable in the traditional Austrian interior. This place is always busy on the days they are open (Mo, Tue, Thu and Fri only) so make a reservation if you can. You can also come a bit later, after 8, and most of the time they will find a spot for you. A typical Austrian experience, not to be missed!
