Great Find!

Great little restaurant on the mountain. Very small and we shared tables with other skiers. The owners were very friendly and the food was superb especially the soup with sausage! Our favourite mountain restaurant of the week. Prices good too!

La perle rare

We found this place by chance and it was a real experience. It is a small old chalet with a typical tyrolien setting. We share the table with other skiers. All the food is home made and all the meals were delicious. The owners are very kind and make you feel welcome. A great finding. Pls note that you need cash (no cards) to pay but it is very affordable.

Fantastic mountain hut!

Frankalm is a beautiful, authentic, wooden building on the number 7 piste. We loved it so much, we purposefully skied to this area 3 times. Food and drinks were delicious and good value and the service was friendly. Try and find it when you’re skiing the area!

A hidden gem and one of my favourites in the area

For some years skiing in this area I didn’t even notice Frankalm - it is so easy to ski past it! But then a ski instructor took me to this delightful mountain restaurant and it’s now one of my favourites. Frankalm is a small, traditional wooden hut in a fantastic location. The food menu is limited but excellent and they serve a good range of drinks. Go there, you won’t regret it.

My favourite place in the SkiWelt

Frankalm is my favourite mountain stop off in the SkiWelt. My wife and I have had numerous skiing & walking holidays in Soll over the years and this little wooden wonderland has become our favourite and we make a point of visiting it on at least a couple of occasions when we are in the area. It can get busy around lunch-time during the ski season so we normally stop off earlier in the morning or later on in the afternoon. The menu is fairly basic but it is all freshly prepared and very tasty, I can certainly recommend the homemade soup and the meat/cheese platters. Everytime my wife and I go in, we notice some different hanging on the walls and although the place is pretty small every single inch has been utilised expertly. George and his son are fantastic hosts and they are very well supported by the staff in the kitchen.

Small but Beautifully Formed

We stopped at the Alm bar in Hochsöll. It was heaving, and the band was horribly over-amplified. I was glad to leave. We came to the Frankalm on the way home, and what a contrast! Tucked away on the route from Söll to Scheffau. You can’t easily get to it if you are going in the other direction. You can see it from the bottom of the Filzboden lift - so near and yet so far, unless you are doing the touring ski thing and can walk up hill. My fave place in the Skiwelt is the Rübezahlalm - but this place strikes me as being the place that the Rübezahlalm must have been 20 years ago, before it was developed. Bags of Austrian charm and character - under no circumstances fail to visit the loo, even if you don’t need to go. Family owned, and the Hirzinger family is pleased to see you, pleased to open the door for you as you stagger towards it in ski boots, pleased to offer you a yummy apricot schnapps if you are lucky. We sat outside and I had the ravioli, home made with spinach and wild mushrooms. My wife had the savoury omelette - usually Kaiserschmarrn (a mad sweet omelette with apple sauce, sort of) is the only offering up the mountain, but the Frankalm did something much more like a proper omelette. Nice, maybe not such good food as they do at the Rübezahlalm, but far, far more peaceful. (Note - this may be a duplicate review - TA just created a new entry and emailed me)
