Summer vacation

Beautiful, magnificent and well worth going out of the way to get there. Botanical gardens. Has a restaurant. Many benches to take rests.

Egapark Larger Than Expected

We stayed in downtown Erfurt so taking the number 2 tram is the best. We are in between blooming season so not all plants were in bloom. Our favorite was the butterfly hall. If you enjoy walking at a leisurely pace, looking at plants/flowers, this would be a good afternoon plan.

my visit to Egapark - Erfurt - Germany

my husband and i went to Egapark while visiting my brother-in-law and his wife
they took us for a visit there - it was far bigger than i though it would be
it was well laid out - plenty to see - lots for children to do
a full day could be spent there easily ?
there was large playground for children - also a green classroom for schools to make use of
observation tower which was 35 mtrs high .... a brilliant view from the top
theres also an observatory there too which was originally built in 16th century ?
cafes to eat at ...and we sampled the food too
.. 3 of us had sausage curry and roll ....and i had patty on a roll
all delicious ........ coffies ans soft drinks ............followed by ice cream cones all round
there was even a land train to take you all around the massive site
which was useful to us............. as my husband is disabled
and wouldnt have been able to get round to see everything for himself
it was a good guided tour - a must even if your able bodied ?
a very well maintained and laid out place to visit
you could even take your own food if you wanted and have picnic under the trees ?
and you definatly wouldnt be bored there

Great way to spend the day

Ega Park has beautiful fountains and gardens. While much of it is geared towards younger children (who love the swimming area, playground, climbing ropes, and zip lines) our teenagers enjoyed the butterfly house and gardens a great deal. Families can get a family pass for 22 Euro, making good this a reasonably priced way to spend a day.

Uncrowded and unhurried

We spent the morning meandering through these gardens, Quite extensive and varied gardens and greenhouses. The Japanese Garden was a favorite of the adults, and the children liked controlling the fountains. The hammocks were also a welcome touch

Very NIce!!

We visited the gardens in May so the tulips were ending and the roses were just starting to bloom. There was still much to see! I can only imagine what the gardens look like in full color!!! We loved the butterfly building! You could tell that the area is well-planned and well-cared for! ( Easy to get to by tram from the town center!)
