Best in Bautzen

Thus is the best restaurant to eat out in Bautzen. From meat to fish, have tried them all, are very well prepared and tasty. They have a big wine collection for affordable prices . The service is friendly and always very helpful.

Nice surprise

This was a nice discovery in Bautzen were we didn’t really expect anything that good. This small place offers a comprehensive offer of nicely presented dishes. Products are good, presentation is neat, service excellent. Prices in the average (although 1 euro for bread was a bit mean and probably not necessary…). Reservations in the evening seem to be advisable. Very recommended.

Secret spot for excellent cuisine and ambience

Its not that kind of spot that you find easily. Not really hidden but also not jumping on you, this small but cosy place is owned by a lovely couple that is dedicated to excellent cuisine and service. You may want to sit near the bar or prefer the nice ambience in the wonderful cave-like souterrain with access to a hidden terrace which is a fabulous escape and makes you feel like you are somewhere in Lisbon or Barcelona. Provided that the weather is good, of course. The cuisine is just awesome with a range of great meals on the everyday menue but in addition there is a menue with monthly seasonal highlights of which some are breathtaking. Make sure to order in advance since places are rare and dont miss to chat with the owner a while. Definitely Worth a visit.

Very good food and service

We visited Culinarium for Easter. The waitress was really friendly and polite. They also have menus in English, which can be really helpful. The restaurant is really cozy and nicely decorated. We had two soups as starters and two more dishes as main courses. The soups were delicious and really nicely served. The main courses were also really tasty and the amount of food was more than enough. We had a nice dessert with strawberries and asparagus. The combination was surprisingly good and creative. We really enjoyed it and we are looking forward to going back to Bautzen to eat here again!

Great food, service and ambiance

The Culinarium is located in the heart of the old town of Bautzen, amongst some ruins. It is not hard to get to it and there is some diagonal parking directly in front of the restaurant, but there’s also parking in a large platz by the public square. There is a walk thru - "Passage" - between the parking platz and the restaurant for an easy walk. The young man attending to us spoke good English and provided us with the one and only English menu (which did not have the meals listed in the same order as the German menu, and some translations were strange but understandable). An interesting and delicious dish to try here is the Flammkuken. Its presented on a large flat wooden board and looks like a pizza. The crust is super thin and crispy like a cracker, and you can select the options for toppings.
