The First Benz Factory
Very interesting museum about the history of the motor car - and the bicycle. One can even see a replica of Dr. Benz’s workshop in Mannheim where he built his first car. This museum is located in the first factory of Benz.
In order to take photographs one needs to pay €3.
The location is very pleasant, just along the Neckar river and near the centre of Ladenburg.

An important shrine in automotive history
This is a very interesting museum, mainly because of the property in which it is housed. This was a factory for C. Benz Söhne, a company Carl Benz established with his sons. He moved in here in 1906, hence the place itself is an important manifestation of automotive history.
The collection is interesting, but at the same time somewhat random. The two automobiles that caught my attention were two C Benz Söhne cars; a 1924 Type 8/25 and the 1911 10/22 Sportwagen.
If you are a car person, this museum is not to be avoided.
International visitors should know a few things, the museum do not accept credit cards of any kind(!) Germany seems to be in the dark ages when it comes to modern forms of payment, and the museum is no different. Still the museum could adapt a German system called SumUp or similar for card payment. The rest of us are in 2020!!!
Also, the lady who manned the reception when we visited could certainly work on her interpersonal skills. A smile is a good start - cheap and highly efficient! Next she should tone down her contempt for those of us not mastering the German language 100%. At least we tried - that is more than she did......
Yeah, one more weird fact.If we interpreted it correctly, a sign stated that there is a €3 charge for taking your own pictures(?).

It’s not the biggest museum but absolutly worth it
It’s not the biggest museum but absolutly worth to check this one out and get to know one of the most used and most normal thing in our live a little bit better. It has a freat collections of cars and bikes as well and everything else which was part of the oldie time.

Excellent
Fantastic collection of old cars and motorbikes.
You can get close to the cars and take some good pictures which is unusual.
If you like Mercedes then well worth the trip.
It’s very small, so you only need 2hrs max.
Do check the opening times before you plan your trip, I went in February and it’s only open Wednesday and at the weekend.
